In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU through a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jump in the chain link of the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It is a little tricky to test since there are different pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is operating at its maximum. If you are having problems with this component, look for audi q3 key (agency-Social.com) signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing any more. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole, and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is not plugged in and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, i think i've pretty much ruled out everything else. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, replacement audi key cost uk and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is easy to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. To accomplish this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to the engine shutting down.

Some of the symptoms of a malfunctioning G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or a misfire when you're in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these symptoms. They're inexpensive and easy to locate particularly if they're a Bosch model like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be the reason behind a slew of issues in your car. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your replacement audi key fob, as it transmits information to the ECU on how fast or slowly the car's engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU is then able to process this signal to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost and then sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) and Replacement key audi between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a common part across the audi a3 key replacement 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
